In Denmark, a massive fire in the offices of pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk

A large-scale fire was underway on Wednesday May 22 at the offices of Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk, outside Copenhagen, the capital’s firefighters announced. “It’s a massive fire. We have around a hundred firefighters on the ground”declared to Agence France-Presse the head of fire operations, Martin Smith, specifying that everyone had been evacuated from the building located in Bagsværd, in the northern part of the Copenhagen metropolitan area.

The fire started in a container at a Novo Nordisk construction site and spread to the roof of an adjacent office building also owned by the company, Smith added. Large plumes of gray smoke were visible 30 kilometers from the fire, Danish news agency Ritzau reported.

The fire occurred less than a week after one that broke out on May 16 at another Novo Nordisk construction site in Kalundborg, which had no impact on drug production.
