In Eltendorf – fire takes the lives of two dogs and a cat

Although the single-family home that caught fire was located opposite the fire station, no one noticed the smoke.

A sad incident occurred on Thursday evening in Eltendorf in the Jennersdorf district of southern Burgenland. A fire broke out in a single-family home for unknown reasons. Although the house is opposite the fire station, no one noticed the smoke at first because no one was at home. Pets fell victim to the fire. It was only when the family’s son came home around 5 p.m. that he discovered the fire and immediately alerted the emergency services. Within a very short time, six fire departments were deployed to extinguish the fire. The police and Red Cross were also on site. No one was injured. Unfortunately, two dogs and a cat that were in the house at the time of the fire could only be rescued dead.
