In Essonne, three young people sentenced for apology for crime in a rap clip

These young men were sentenced on November 4 to a suspended six-month prison sentence by the Evry juvenile court. Aged 15 and 16 when they were indicted in August 2021, they come from Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, a town in Essonne where gangs of teenagers maintain a rivalry with the neighboring town of Saint- Michel-sur-Orge.

In May 2021, a 15-year-old teenager from Saint-Michel-sur-Orge, Dramane, was violently lynched with a hammer in front of his high school. An attack that a group of amateur rappers from Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, 700Shad glorified in a piece titled Barbary Act #4. The clip shows excerpts from a television newscast referring to the affair and the three rappers make explicit comments in it, such as “hammer blow announces the color”, “burst of hammer blows, we put you out”, “it was us in front of Leonard, you dirty son of a bitch”, the attack having taken place in front of the Léonard-de-Vinci high school. The young people appear hooded in the clip but had been identified by the investigators. In the investigation into the attack on young Dramane, two minors were arrested shortly after the incident and charged with attempted murder.
