In Germany, justice announces the arrest of Daniela Klette, suspected of belonging to the Red Army Faction

German justice announced on Tuesday February 27 the arrest in Berlin of Daniela Klette, 65, an alleged member of the far-left German organization Red Army Faction (FAR), wanted for decades in particular for attempted murder and for several robberies, without providing further details at this stage.

A far-left terrorist group, the Red Army Faction appeared in Germany in the early 1970s. Until its self-dissolution in 1998, it was accused of having killed up to fifty people. Since then, known members of the police have died or are trying to lead new lives after serving prison sentences.

In January 2016, justice revealed that traces of DNA from three members of the FAR, including Daniela Klette, had been found on a car used in June 2015 for the failed attack on an armored van, near Bremen.

His traces were notably found at the scene of the attack committed against the Darmstadt prison (Hesse), an attack which caused no casualties.
