In Innsbruck – online fraud: five-digit euro amount lost

A 45-year-old local in Innsbruck fell for brazen internet fraudsters. They elicited a mid five-digit euro amount from the man.

The local was contacted by email at the end of October by a company that also offered graphics cards for sale, among other things. The 45-year-old was looking for a high-priced card offered by the online shop and transferred a mid five-digit euro amount to a foreign account for five items. Foreign account, however, the goods did not arrive. The Tyrolean asked, was put off and finally transferred another three-digit euro amount for an alleged security deposit – again to a foreign account. Then another request for payment for alleged customs problems came in. The 45-year-old did not follow suit and filed a complaint.
