In Israel, Benny Gantz threatens to leave the war cabinet if Benjamin Netanyahu does not present an “action plan” for the post-war period

Benny Gantz, the main opponent of Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel, threatened the prime minister with leaving the war cabinet, to which he belongs, on Saturday May 18. The former army chief of staff announced that he would give the prime minister three weeks to develop a ” action plan ” strategic, particularly on the post-war period in the Gaza Strip.

One of the ” goals “ of the plan must be “the establishment of an American-European-Arab-Palestinian administration which will manage civil affairs” in Gaza “and will lay the foundations for a future solution that is neither Hamas nor [Mahmoud] Abbas »president of the Palestinian Authority, driven out of the Gaza Strip in 2007 by Hamas, said he wanted Mr. Gantz.

Without this action plan, he will resign from the war cabinet, an emergency government formed after the attack on October 7, 2023. Following these remarks, Benjamin Netanyahu immediately rejected this proposal and accused his rival of “looking for an excuse to overthrow the government”.
