LThe torrential rains did nothing. At the time of the demonstration on Saturday January 14, on the esplanade of the Habima theater in Tel Aviv, they were already thousands to have gathered. Two hours later, all the adjacent streets were black with people. 80,000 according to the police; more than 100,000 according to the organizers. A compact crowd where young and old rubbed shoulders, many with an Israeli flag in one hand and a sign on the other bearing their favorite slogan: “for the defense of democracy”, “for the maintenance of the judiciary in its present form. Especially against the new government accused of wanting to change the regime, which would affect all areas of life in Israel, from the cancellation of the rules of the democratic game…
