In June on Prime Video: the most violent superhero series and a cult DiCaprio/Scorsese

The June sun is here, the sign of a beautiful summer on Prime Video! On the program this month, the long-awaited 3rd season of The Boys, the supercharged trilogy of John Wick, and some well-chosen classics of the 7th art… Let’s go!

THE UNAVOIDABLE

The Boys – season 3 – Friday, June 3

Billy, Hughie, Frenchie, Kimiko and the others are back to face the evil manipulations of the Seven and Vought International. After two explosive seasons, The Boys returns on June 3 on Prime Video with three new episodes, before moving to the rhythm of a new episode every Friday.

We thus find the usual cast: Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, without forgetting Antony Starr. The latter puts on his brilliant Protector costume again, he who sinks more and more into madness while trying to preserve his public image as best he can… To stop him, the Boys will have to defy all the rules!

If they will be able to find with pleasure the most trashy group of friends on the small screen, fans will also discover Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester in Supernatural). Glory of the Second World War resurrected, this new superhero arrives with an all new squad of Supes: the Paybacks.

Chloe – season 1 – Friday, June 24

Becky is a taciturn, lonely, social media-obsessed young woman. She constantly scans the Instagram account of Chloe, her childhood friend whom she has lost sight of. Although she seems to lead a perfect life, Chloe dies in strange circumstances. Becky intends to shed light on this alleged suicide in which she does not believe, and goes so far as to change her identity to interfere in the intimate circle of the deceased.

Revealed as Princess Anne in seasons 3 and 4 of The Crown, Erin Doherty superbly takes on the role of the heroine, a deep and nuanced character. Contemporary and disturbing, the first season of Chloe immerses us in a suffocating atmosphere, from June 24 on Prime Video.

HIGHLIGHTS

Ready Player One – Wednesday, June 1

In 2045, humanity escapes from a gloomy daily life and takes refuge in a virtual and connected world called the OASIS. But the creator of this parallel universe has sown the clues of a gigantic treasure hunt, wishing to bequeath his colossal fortune to the most deserving.

Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), armed with his avatar Parzival, sets off in pursuit of this reward, before it falls into the wrong hands. With Ready Player One, Steven Spielberg gratifies us in 2018 with an iconic and visionary film that pushed the limits of creativity, in a bewitching outpouring of pop-culture.

Gangs of New York – Wednesday, June 1

Gangs of New York is already celebrating its 20th anniversary! The opportunity to rediscover this classic signed Martin Scorsese on Prime Video. At the top of the bill, a very high-flying duo: Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis, in a fierce struggle to reign over the Five Points district, in the heart of Manhattan in the dark 1860s. A captivating and brutal film, hailed by 10 Oscar nominations and 2 Golden Globe wins.

Sans Limite – season 1 – Friday, June 24

Prime Video takes us on June 24 in 4 episodes filled with adventure and drama with the series Sans Limite. We follow Magellan and Elcano, two navigators who accomplished a feat whose 500th anniversary we are celebrating this year: that of the very first circumnavigation of the globe. On the casting side, the captain and his second are respectively embodied by Rodrigo Santoro, who we saw in 300, Westworld, or in I Love You Phillip Morris, and by Álvaro Morte, the emblematic Professor of La Casa de Papel .

An Ordinary Spy – Monday, June 13

Barely a year after its theatrical release, the thrilling thriller An Ordinary Spy will be available on the platform from June 13. In the 1960s, Greville Wynne, a businessman, was recruited by the British secret service. His mission is to make the link with a high-ranking informant in the Soviet army, by multiplying the round trips without arousing suspicion.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who rose to the rank of world star for his interpretations of Sherlock and Doctor Strange, offers us here a powerful performance, inspired by a true story which played a capital role during the Cold War. Among other things, he gives the reply to Rachel Brosnahan, alias The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel!
