There was a serious traffic accident in St. Michael (Lungau) in the early hours of Thursday. A car crashed into an embankment and was thrown through the air. The handlebars were jammed. In Mauterndorf a car crashed into a stream bed.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, a serious traffic accident occurred in St. Michael im Lungau on the B99 in the area of ​​the roundabout near the sports center. A car collided with the embankment, was thrown into the air and finally came to a stop on the opposite side of the street. The driver of the vehicle was trapped in the accident. The St. Michael fire department responded to the scene with three vehicles and 19 men. With the help of hydraulic rescue equipment, the emergency services managed to free the trapped driver. At the same time, the site was secured and supporting measures were initiated by the Red Cross. The road maintenance department took over the clean-up work, while the police carried out the accident investigation. One person with unspecified injuries was transported to Tamsweg Hospital. The operation lasted from 3:04 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Car crashed into stream bed. Also in Lungau, a car had crashed into a stream bed an hour earlier. For an unknown reason, the vehicle slipped over a steep embankment in Mauterndorf into the Taurrach stream bed. The driver left his car uninjured and independently. In order to be able to salvage the vehicle, the heavy rescue vehicle was also requested from Tamsweg. With the help of the crane and the built-in cable winch, the emergency services managed to pull the vehicle safely out of the stream bed. The operation was completed after around an hour.
