THE graphics cards mid-range could experience a real little price war?

If we regret the absence of FSR 3 and perhaps a little less convincing performance in ray tracing, the Radeon RX 7800 XT clearly shows its muscles against the GeForce RTX 4070, former queen of 1440p gaming.

An RTX 4070 cheaper than the RX 7800 XT?

A demonstration of raw power which also seems to worry a New Zealand retailer. To “celebrate” the release of the Radeon RX 7800 XT, the latter actually launched a promotion… on the GeForce RTX 4070.

Unless you live in Auckland or Wellington (or Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, but we’re not going to give you a lesson in New Zealand geography), you probably don’t know the PB Tech reseller . However, it is making headlines with the launch of the two new Radeons.

Logically, the Radeon RX 7700 XT sells for NZ$998.99, while the Radeon RX 7800 Already, we will notice the minimal difference between the two cards.

Drops on the RTX 4060 Ti also

But, more importantly, it is the price of the GeForce RTX 4070 that surprises. Here in France, the NVIDIA card costs around 650 euros, while the Radeon RX 7800 XT costs 570 euros. Advantage to AMD, therefore.

At PB Tech, on the other hand, the price of an RTX 4070 fell below the $1,000 mark just when the Radeons were launched. Impossible not to see a cause and effect link. This is a single RTX 4070 model, the Galax RTX 4070 OC X2, which is not the most premium model of course, and customers are limited to just one card per account.

Still, this reduction shows that the release of the new Radeons shuffles the cards a bit (graphics!). Let’s also remember that just before the arrival of the RX 7700 XT, we saw the price of the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB drop below 500 euros in France. Could we feel the tide turning at NVIDIA? The release of the Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT seems like good news for our wallet!
