The facts go back to the night of Sunday to Monday. In the company of friends, the victim, a 21-year-old young man, came across a patrol from the night brigade of the Nice municipal police, made up of five officers, in a bar in the old town. Leaving the establishment, the police realize that their vehicle has been tagged in pen with the inscription “Easy”. They give the description of the alleged perpetrators of the tag and another patrol calls the young man. In conditions that remain unclear, this patrol hands the suspect over to the first police officers, who then take him to a city park to “teach him a lesson”, according to their statements reported by the prosecution, before abandoning him on the spot. . The victim, who is not the author of the tag on the vehicle, had a broken nose.

Warrant of deposit

“Judicial information is opened concerning three municipal police officers for kidnapping or kidnapping to facilitate a crime or misdemeanor followed by release before the seventh day, and violence aggravated by three circumstances followed by a total incapacity for work greater than eight days”, indicates Xavier Bonhomme, public prosecutor of Nice. For one of the three police officers incriminated are added “the counts of repeated threat of crime against persons and threat or act of intimidation to determine a victim not to lodge a complaint or to retract”, specifies the magistrate.

The prosecution asked, against the police officer who admitted having inflicted these injuries on him and who is also the author of the threats, a warrant of deposit to “avoid any fraudulent consultation and prevent any pressure”, indicates Mr. Bonhomme. He requested a judicial review of the two other police officers prosecuted, with a ban on the profession of municipal police officer. The investigation will continue under the authority of an investigating judge before whom the three agents must be presented this Wednesday afternoon for their indictment. The three suspects face sentences of 10 years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros.
