In Obertauern – goat rescued from ledge after three days

The Salzburg mountain rescue team had an animal mission over the long Pentecost weekend – they had to save a goat in Obertauern that had been standing on a steep ledge for three days and could not go any further.

A hunter had informed the Salzburg mountain rescue service because a Tauernschecken goat had been in a ledge in Obertauern for three days and obviously couldn’t go any further Binggl abseiling down to the goat. She persevered calmly and had the harness put on in the area where there was a risk of falling. The animal was brought to safety by means of a safety rope. “The Tauernschecke was thirsty and hungry and immediately looked for juicy food again,” grinned Binggl.
