In open terrain – skier (45) fell into crevasse

Good luck in bad luck for a German skier! The 45-year-old was on Friday afternoon on the Hintertux Glacier on an open and unsecured area in the direction of the valley and fell around 15 meters.

The German overlooked a partially open crevasse and fell. He fell into the 70 degree steep crevice about 15 meters deep. An uninvolved witness then alerted the alpine police.

No injuries
“He was rescued unharmed by an alpine policeman, a mountain rescue man from Tux Mountain Rescue and with the help of seven employees from the Zillertaler Gletscherbahnen,” the executive said.
