Photography blog Capture the Atlas has announced the winners of its 5and edition of the Milky Way Photographer of the Year, a competition for which artists had to immortalize the Milky Way in the most beautiful way. The 25 selected photos were taken all over the world, in twelve different countries: the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Egypt, France, Spain , Slovenia, Slovakia, Japan and China.
The Milky Way season runs from February to October in the Northern Hemisphere and from January to November in the Southern Hemisphere. The best time to observe and photograph it is usually between May and June.
