All of Upper Austria gathered on Sunday afternoon in Seewalchen am Attersee. Not because of the Martini market, which was canceled anyway. But: There was the only possibility here on Sunday to get vaccinated against Corona.
After Friday’s announcement that from today, Monday, 2G instead of 3G will apply, the sting on Sunday has had a major impact on those who got it. Because with a PCR test, the proof of the first stitch is valid for the next four weeks as an entrance ticket to the landlord, hairdresser & Co.
Instead of Martini market
Although the rush for the vaccination appointments from Friday was enormous and on Saturday the willing had sometimes waited hours in front of the vaccination streets and buses in Upper Austria, there were no offers for Sunday. Only that in Seewalchen, which was identified two months ago. “In the beginning we weren’t really happy with our request, but then we were accepted. We canceled the Martini market and kept the vaccination offer. That was spot on, ”said Mayor Gerald Egger happily.
On Saturday, the rush for Sunday was already to be expected
“In ten minutes I activated the fire brigade for the pilotage service with a few calls and got the okay from the Red Cross and doctors that we could double our capacities,” says local chief Egger. On Sunday, shortly before 2 p.m., people were queuing for 200 meters. Inside were people from all over Upper Austria who wanted to use the day off to get the trick. As of today, they can participate in life as if they were fully vaccinated, despite the 2G rule. “It is incomprehensible why more offers were not created here spontaneously”, some were unlikely. Now that politicians were finally ready to vaccinate, a great opportunity has been overlooked.
The capacities are now being increased again
On Sunday afternoon the country’s crisis team announced that the vaccination offers would be increased: “New vaccination dates will be activated and the pop-up vaccination offer will be updated”. A nationwide vaccination campaign is also planned. 7,145 compatriots took the sting on Friday, 8,000 an appointment.
