in Spain, two patients marry in hospital

Both affected by the coronavirus, two hospitalized patients said yes to the Enfermera Isabel Zendal hospital in Madrid where they were admitted at the end of January due to the coronavirus.

It is a very special ceremony. At the Enfermera Isabel Zendal hospital in Madrid, an establishment specially built to fight the coronavirus pandemic, a couple of patients hospitalized for severe forms of the disease said "yes" to each other in the corridors of the hospital, as the 'related RTL Belgium.

They are Fernando, 70, and Rosario, 62. Affected by Covid-19, the couple had to be admitted to this hospital on January 23. "We arrived together but had to be separated in different departments", said Rosario."A difficult separation because we didn't know what could happen".

Special help from nursing staff

In this more than particular context, Fernando therefore decided to make his request to his partner, after 14 years of living together. "He never proposed to me before", recounted Rosario. Scarred by the virus, she recalls, hesitant:"But about 8 days ago, I don't quite know … He sent me a message to make his request. It was a moment of great happiness. I said 'Of course it's the dream of my life to be your wife"https://www.aufeminin.com/".

In view of the news, the nursing staff did everything to set up a small ceremony in the hospital. "You must be beautiful for a wedding", whispered to Fernando a nurse tying a bow tie around his neck. The future groom, very affected by the disease, was forced to remain bedridden and equipped with an oxygen mask. He therefore waited patiently for his fiancée who describes it as "a very strong man, he is a fighter, he will overcome it all".

Wearing a tiara in addition to her surgical mask, Rosario arrived in a wheelchair on the fabricated altar, bouquet of flowers in hand. A moving scene before which Fernando could not hold back his tears. The couple then followed the office of a priest by videoconference on a phone in order to be officially married. The ceremony was attended by a good part of the nursing staff. An event that has something to give a little balm to the heart in this heavy period.
