In Swiss Group G – Double Richarlison scores Brazil’s dream goal – Sport

  • Brazil celebrates the expected opening win against Serbia at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
  • At 2-0, Richarlison shines for the five-time world champion as a double goal scorer, his 2nd goal is a work of art.
  • This means that in Group G the Brazilians and the Swiss national teams each have 3 points after beating Cameroon 1-0.

Lusail Stadium was upside down in the 73rd minute. Richarlison had just served the most beautiful goal of – or perhaps all – the 2022 World Cup to audiences in Qatar and on television screens around the world. The Tottenham striker took a cross with his back to goal and then side-kicked it beautifully into the net.

With this 2-0 favorite Brazil decided the duel against Serbia in the Swiss group G prematurely. Richarlison was rightly celebrated with a little dance from his whole team, the 25-year-old was man of the match.

It was he who made it 1-0 in the 62nd minute. Less worth seeing, but just as valuable, he was the quickest to react after a rebound and took the lead.

Due to the significant increase in performance in the second half, Brazil’s victory was deserved. What’s more: with Alex Sandro’s post hit (60′) and Casemiro’s crossbar (81′) he could have been even higher.

Serbs unruly before the break

In the first half, however, the expected Brazil show didn’t materialize. The Serbs were very high, especially at the beginning of the game and had the same number of half-chances as the favourite.

It was not until the 25th minute that the Seleçao increasingly took control of the game and practically did not allow the promised Serbian offensive – with the two Juventus players Filip Kostic and Dusan Vlahovic initially sitting on the bench – to have a chance. Instead, Brazil were in the forward gear, but to the chagrin of the five-time world champions there were no top-class chances.

Serbia’s goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic averted a possible such with clever play: In the 27th minute he rushed out of the goal and threw himself into a promising through ball that would have been intended for Vinicius Junior before the young star could start the shot. A little later, the goalkeeper saved twice (31st/35th) against two shots by Raphinha.

Here’s how to proceed
