In the first round – crazy cup thriller: 3: 0, 3: 4, penalty shoot-out!

Bergheim and Golling fought an unbelievable cup duel in the first round of the Landescup – the decision was made on penalties after eight goals in regular time.

Although there were only 77 spectators in Bergheim – they certainly did not regret coming!

Because hosts FC Bergheim and SC Golling, two clubs from the Salzburg League, fought a crazy exchange of blows in the first round of the Stiegl State Cup.

The home side looked like the sure winner early on. Teufl (2nd), Ziss (18th) and Peterka (23rd) got Robert Gierzinger’s team on track early on. But the guests from Golling showed incredible morale and fought their way back into the game.

Ziss shot Bergheim one lap further
Mitterlechner (31st, 35th) with a double and Brückler (62nd) ensured the celebrated 3: 3 equalization, before the latter even managed to lead Gollinger with the 3: 4 in minute 80. Bergheim, however, had the perfect answer and saved himself into extra time with a penalty goal from Ziss in the 86th minute.

Since this remained goalless, the penalty shoot-out had to decide between victory and defeat. Lienbacher and Hujberts failed the guests’ nerves, for Bergheim only Sandic missed. When captain Ziss finally fixed the promotion with his goal to make it 4: 3, the jubilation of the home side knew no bounds.
