Tragic drowning accident on Monday night in the Tyrolean Oberland: A young man suddenly went under while swimming in the Wolfsee in Fiss (Landeck district). In the course of a subsequent large-scale operation, the man could only be recovered dead by divers.
The terrible incident at Wolfsee happened around 11:30 p.m. According to initial information, the man may have tried to cross the lake. A health problem suddenly arose. The man tried to hold on to an acquaintance, but then went under. 100 emergency services on site. The alarm was immediately raised. A large-scale search operation was then launched. Around 100 emergency services from water rescue, fire brigade and police were on site. At around 0.30 a.m., the lifeless body of the man was finally found and recovered by divers from the Innsbruck professional fire brigade at a depth of around 3.5 meters. Any help came too late for the man. Investigations into the identity and cause of the accident The police confirmed the fatal drowning accident to the “Krone”.
