In the Philippines, the head of prisons accused of ordering the murder of journalist Percival Mabasa

It is a serious questioning that the Philippine police brought, Monday, November 7, by accusing the director general of the penitentiary administration of having ordered the murder of a prominent radio journalist, whose death aroused the concern of the international community. Percival Mabasa, 63, who went by the name “Percy Lapid” on his show, was killed in suburban Manila on October 3 on his way to his studio.

Police have filed a murder complaint against the managing director, Gerald Bantag, who is currently suspended from his duties, and his security assistant, Ricardo Zulueta.

The suspected shooter, Joel Escorial, surrendered to authorities in October fearing for his safety after police released his face from CCTV footage, officials said.

Mr Bantag “will probably be the most senior official in this country ever charged in a case of this gravity”said Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla.

Mr. Bantag allegedly ordered the murder of Mr. Mabasa because of “the exposition continues by the latter of the issues against the former in his show”told reporters Eugene Javier, of the National Bureau of Investigation.
