An American family was able to save the life of their daughter, in respiratory distress, thanks to the alert given by the dog in the house.

It is sometimes said that dogs have a sixth sense. And looking at this touching story more closely, we realize that it is. A couple from Connecticut (United States), owner of a Boston Terrier named Henry, was able to save their 9-month-old baby girl thanks to the alert given by their dog.

Jeff and Kelly Dowling noticed that their 8-year-old pooch was behaving strangely with the baby’s room. “He would nudge the door, come in and stand there”, explained Kelly Dowling at the ABC 7 site. “Every time I chased him he would come home as soon as I had my back turned.” Faced with the doggie’s insistence, the couple entered the room to see what might be disturbing them. And they found out that their child was in pain. “She started to turn blue and stiff, she couldn’t get oxygen”, says the mother of the family.

A story that touched Internet users

Faced with the baby’s respiratory distress, the couple rushed to the emergency room of the nearest hospital. On the spot, the doctors cleared her airways and the girl could again breathe properly. Back home, Jeff and Kelly Dowling congratulated their pooch for his heroic gesture. “We definitely spoil the dog a little more”, confides the father. They shared this story on Twitter and many netizens praised the action of Henry, now considered the hero of the family.
