In the vein of Inventing Anna, Amanda Seyfried plays a con queen in The Dropout

It’s one of Silicon Valley’s biggest scandals: the Elizabeth Holmes affair and her company, Theranos. Disney+ makes it a series, “The Dropout”, worn by Amanda Seyfried. Check out the trailer.

The stories of scams fascinate the crowds. The documentary film The Tinder Scammer is a hit on Netflix, while Shonda Rhimes’ new series, Inventing Anna, is about to popularize the fate of a false German heiress, on February 11, still on Netflix. The Disney+ platform offers, for its part, The Dropout, the story of a genius-crook from Silicon Valley.

Amanda Seyfried, who has a string of notable roles after David Fincher’s Mank and Paul Schrader’s On the Road to Redemption, plays Elizabeth Holmes. At only 19 years old, this young woman created her company, Theranos. This company offers, thanks to a specific technology, to carry out blood tests at lightning speed and at a lower cost.

Ten years later, the founder made the front page of the biggest magazines and even found herself compared to Steve Jobs. But everything is wrong. The company’s results are fake, and even the personality of the American, who changes her voice to a more serious tone, is fabricated.

The series created by Liz Meriwether and made up of 10 episodes looks back on this great scandal. On screen, Amanda Seyfried is surrounded by William H. Macy, Laurie Metcalf, Stephen Fry, Dylan Minnette and Utkarsh Ambudkar.

Expected for March 3 in the United States, the fiction will arrive in France on Disney+ soon.
