May 19 (Reuters) – The Tokyo Stock Exchange ended lower on Thursday in the wake of Wall Street, amid deep concerns about the impact of inflation and central bank rate hikes.

After four consecutive sessions of gains, the Nikkei index lost 1.89% to 26,402.84 points and the wider Topix fell 1.30% to 1,860.28 points.
