The Netflix film and series streaming platform, which also creates its own productions, is canceling one of them. “Pearl!”, her animated series project thought up by Meghan Markle, never saw the light of day. In question, Netflix’s desire to reduce its costs in a context of loss of subscribers.

There are series that end abruptly, and those announced that never see the light of day. Pearl! is one of these. The Netflix film and series streaming platform has indeed announced the cancellation of this animated series project. Created by Meghan Markle, this fiction was to tell the life of a 12-year-old teenager, inspired by women who have marked history. The actress and wife of Prince Harry was to produce the series.

Meghan Markle’s other project maintained

This cancellation is nothing personal from Netflix. Pearl! is not the only project announced by the platform to fall through. The latter is forced to reduce its costs after the drop in its number of subscribers: 200,000 fewer worldwide in the first quarter. A first in 10 years. A drop which is partly explained by the shutdown of Netflix in Russia.

However, Netflix announces the maintenance of Heart of Invictus. This documentary series produced by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will tell the story of the Invictus Games, a sort of Olympiad for injured veterans created by Queen Elisabeth 2’s grandson.
