Salzburg weightlifters Petra Schmutzer and Lena Raidel won the Bundesliga title with Union Lochen. On site: a trusty crossed fingers.

All good things come in threes – that’s probably what the weightlifters of Union Lochen thought in the final of the Bundesliga, in which they won their third title after 2019 and 2020 on Saturday. The Upper Austrians already had a clear lead after the preliminary round, and in the end they left the competition from Linz (1501.93) and Bruck (St/1440.51) behind with 1672.92 points. “That’s really great,” said Salzburg’s Lena Raidel, who is one of the pillars of the team and has already won all three championship titles final round. The talent also seems to have found a fan in the mayor of her home town. Tanja Kreer attends the weightlifting competitions regularly. “Must be different next year” For the 18-year-old, however, the season will only be over after the final in the Upper Austrian state league next Saturday. Nevertheless, she already drew a conclusion: “I’m really satisfied. But I started far too often, it has to be different next year,” said Raidel, who finished tenth at the U20 European Championships this year. Petra Schmutzer, the second athlete from Salzburg, weighed 134 kg. The 29-year-old (-55 kg) crowned a successful season with the title. A few weeks ago, the physiotherapist became state champion.
