In the Var, in Six-Fours, a woman was turned away at the entrance of a supermarket of the Géant Casino group … because of her outfit considered "naked".

In the newspaper Var-Morning, a 25-year-old woman, Marion, confided in the sexism she faced while wanting to do her shopping in a supermarket. According to her, she would have been turned away because of her outfit "too bare" at the entrance of a supermarket in Six-Fours. It was Friday July 31, at 5 p.m .: while she was going to a Casino supermarket in Six-Fours with her mother-in-law, the security guard called out to her, blocking her passage from the entrance and said: "It will not be possible in this outfit, you are too naked, you do not go into the store like that." Shocked by these words, the young woman asks to speak to the managers of the store who, in the end, express the same words as the security guard: "They made me look like nothing, in front of everyone! No matter how much I defended myself, they didn't want to hear anything!" deplores Marion. She finally returns home, without being able to enter the store. She was in tears.

They made me pass for less than nothing, in front of everyone

She claims never "to have felt so humiliated" and Monday, August 3, she lodged a complaint. However, the policeman who welcomes him advises him to settle this case. "amicably" : "I know it will be difficult to prove that this incident is a criminal offense and that the prosecution is unlikely to follow up" he explains to Var-Morning who contacted the police officer in question. The latter also contacted the famous Casino. The manager who refused entry to the store to Marion explains, apologizing, that instructions were given to the security guard: "It is common for customers to walk in in swimsuits or relatively undressed."

We are free to dress as we wish

This story was relayed en masse on social networks, forcing the Géant Casino group to react to the controversy. On the branch's Twitter account wrote: "This attitude is intolerable and we do not share these values. We are committed to combating all types of discrimination. The signature 'Casino, nourishing a world of diversity' testifies to this" before adding in another tweet: "We understand that these facts may have been hurtful and we renew our apologies to the client."

Marion, still shocked, returned to her outfit: "I was dressed correctly! I had quickly put on a cotton skirt and a bustier, with just a small hole there" she said, indicating her chest: "A situation like this had never happened to me. I was put down. We are women, we are in France! We are free to dress as we wish."
