A radar device lay overturned on Wednesday morning shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Aegeristrasse in Baar ZG. What happened there? This question drove many Blick readers. Several pictures of the incident landed in the editor’s mailbox and caused wild speculation.
“Too many radar photos in the box,” wrote one reader. Another suspected that the Zug police drove the pick-up too fast and that the speed camera might have overturned when braking. Another commented on the picture sent: “God does not always punish immediately, but surprisingly.”
Device is being inspected for electronic damage
However, the background to the incident is somewhat less spectacular. A turning maneuver is to blame, as the Zug police explained when asked by Blick. A police officer wanted to set up the radar device, but the trailer then overturned with the speed camera during a turning maneuver. And there he was now – in the middle of Aegeristrasse.
The officer had to call for help to remove the speed camera from the roadway. After that, however, the machine still could not control the speed of the motorists. The radar device must first be checked for possible electronic damage before it can be put back into operation, according to the police. Incidentally, no one was injured in the radar breakdown. (gin)
