A vehicle rammed an SUV from the US President’s column in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.
According to media reports, Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were uninjured.
The background to the incident is unclear.
The president and first lady were leaving their campaign headquarters in Wilmington after a meal with staff when the car rammed the SUV, they said.
The SUV shielded the motorcade at the intersection. There was a loud bang. Biden, who had just spoken to reporters, stood in front of the vehicle with a surprised expression on his face before officers led him to his vehicle.
