Moments of shock for a construction site team on Monday afternoon in Seefeld in Tyrol: an excavator driver damaged a Tigas gas pipe with his vehicle, whereupon the area had to be closed.
The 24-year-old excavator driver was excavating in the Kirchwald area around 12:20 p.m. when the incident occurred. Gas then leaked from the damaged pipe, whereupon the foreman of the construction company dialed the gas emergency number and then informed the rest of the emergency services. People evacuated, workers treated by rescue Two residents of a nearby house had to be evacuated, the area around the exit site was closed. Tigas workers arrived and managed to repair the leak around 1:45 p.m. The two residents were then able to return to their house and the community road was reopened. The excavator driver and the foreman were treated on site by the rescue team. They were then able to resume their work.
