Incident in Tyrol – gas pipe damaged, alarm in apartment block

Major operation on Wednesday evening in Tyrol: After a gas pipe was damaged during construction work in Jenbach, there was also danger in the adjacent apartment block. But after measurements there was soon a sigh of relief.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. during core drilling work for a hot water pipe on the apartment building on Herbert-von-Pichler-Straße. A natural gas pipe in the concrete wall was drilled, which led to a strong gas leak into the outside and a clear smell of gas was noticeable. The control center alerted emergency services. A 25-year-old local who was involved in the work immediately made the emergency call, whereupon the rescue chain was set in motion by the Tyrol control center was set. The Jenbach fire department cordoned off the scene over a large area. By turning off the main gas line, another large gas leak was prevented. When all rooms and apartments in the apartment building were inspected, no dangerous gas concentrations were found. The all-clear was given at around 6:25 p.m. None of the residents had to be evacuated. No people were injured as a result of the incident.
