Submerged in sections
While it was initially feared that several days could pass before the men were released, the jubilant news came a little later: everyone could be rescued. The rescue operation itself went smoothly, albeit exhaustingly. Since the meltwater continued to block individual sections and passages, according to “Krone” information, rescuers and researchers had to dive through the deep dark water to get out of the cave again. The men finally reached the exit, slightly hypothermic but otherwise well.
