The Renaissance MP for Yvelines, Karl Olive, was the guest of La Grande interview Europe 1/CNews. At the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk, the former mayor of Poissy returned to the inclusion of abortion in the Constitution this Monday. A historic moment for him: “There will be a before and an after March 4,” he believes.
It is an important day for France. This Monday, the country’s 925 parliamentarians are called to vote to explicitly include voluntary termination of pregnancy in the Constitution. “The law determines the conditions under which the freedom guaranteed to women to have recourse to a voluntary termination of pregnancy is exercised.” Introduced in article 34, the sentence will make France a pioneer, unlike several countries where the right to abortion is declining, in the United States or in Eastern Europe.
“We are safe from nothing in this country”
“I believe that this is the fight of an entire generation,” explains the Renaissance MP for Yvelines, Karl Olive, on Europe 1. “I think of my mother when I tell you this, who was born in 34, who at the time, like a certain number of those around her, also had to fight for these issues,” he continues. .
“I am obviously thinking of Ms. Simone Veil. And then I think that our beautiful country will set the example of a very big meeting which will be a historic meeting,” assures the former mayor of Poissy. Before concluding: “There will be a before and after March 4 in this country”, thus affirming that this vote is necessary to protect this right from a potential retreat on the subject, as was the case in the United States or Poland. “We are safe from nothing in this country,” he concludes.
