Chainsaw Massacre. This Wednesday, May 11, 2022, a bloody attack took place in Cergy (Val-d’Oise) around 8:30 in the morning. It all started when one of the two 18-year-old roommates asked his 25-year-old roommate to “turn around or close your eyes” because he wanted to surprise him, as reported by our colleagues from Parisian. As a surprise, the 18-year-old who, like his roommate, studies at Essec – Higher School of Economics and Commercial Sciences – pulled out a battery-powered mini-chainsaw and began slashing his victim. AFP reports that the latter probably wanted to protect himself with his arms, and suffered serious injuries to an arm, head and chest.
In the panic, he still managed to take the mini-chainsaw from his roommate and throw it out the window – a move that probably saved his life. Managing to get out of the apartment on the first floor, the victim dragged himself to the lobby of the building where a neighbor gave him first aid while waiting for help. When they arrived on the spot, the latter transported him to the hospital in emergency since his vital prognosis was engaged. the Parisian reports the words of an inhabitant of the building who describes a terrible scene. “I saw the victim who was covered in blood, conscious. (…) He must have been very cut considering the blood that there was”. According to another witness, the arrest of the culprit took place calmly.
The alleged culprit wanted to commit suicide
“The chainsaw student came out of the building quietly, smiling, with the polices” explains one of the neighbors of the two young students. Still according to her, the attacker who took out a mini-chainsaw to attack his roommate would have explained that he basically wanted to kill himself. But, not finding the strength, he finally decided to go after his roommate. A radical and unexpected decision that caught the victim off guard. More than 24 hours after the attack, the investigation is still ongoing to learn more about the circumstances of this attempted murder, and especially about the motivations of the 18-year-old young man.
