Incredible Luck – Boarder Survives 100m Crash Seriously Injured

A 32-year-old snowboarder sustained serious injuries on Saturday afternoon in Vorarlberg after leaving the secured slopes of the Sonnenkopf ski area with other winter sports enthusiasts. When he wanted to cross a rocky slope, he fell about 100 meters, according to the police.

The winter sports enthusiast got into the Vermalentobel – where alpine accidents had happened several times in the past – and couldn’t get any further. He had still unbuckled his board and tried to walk. He lost his footing and fell over the ledge, overturning several times. Two of his companions rushed to the aid of the fallen victim and made an emergency call. The recovery, which was difficult due to the weather and terrain, was carried out by the crew of the emergency doctor helicopter Christopherus 8 using a 50 meter long rope. The injured person was subsequently taken to the Feldkirch State Hospital.
