“Incredibly shocking”: the Sausage Party series will be trashier than the film

Seth Rogen is working on a sequel to the animated film “Sausage Party” and he promises politically incorrect and “unbelievably shocking” new adventures for everyday foods.

A hit at the box office despite its restrictions (prohibited for children under 17 unaccompanied by an adult in the United States and prohibited for children under 12 in France), Sausage Party will soon return to our screens. The most irreverent animated comedy in American cinema, which told the quest of a little sausage to discover the origins of its existence, is entitled to a series sequel for Prime Video.

Titled Sausage Party: Foodtopia, this 8-episode animated series marks the return of original comedians who reprise their roles, including Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz and Edward Norton. They will be accompanied by newcomers such as Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell and Yasser Lester.

A series more trash than the film?

The synopsis of the series has not yet been unveiled but Seth Rogen already promises us that it will be just as trashy, if not more, than the original film which he co-wrote with Evan Goldberg (SuperGrave), Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir.

Asked by EmpireSeth Rogen, who is a regular at biased works being producer of The Boys or Pam & Tommy, explained that the series is “incredibly shocking”. So much so that one scene in particular was the subject of a special screening at Amazon:

“There’s a specific scene that was special screened for Amazon PR people. You need to get used to that right now. You’re probably going to talk about it a lot.”

Sony Pictures Releasing France

Even the actors, however accustomed to this provocative and subversive tone, were shocked. This is the case of Kristen Wiig whom Seth Rogen brought in to learn a few lines. “I think we all became desensitized, because she was just told to shoot the scene and she was like, ‘Oh my God, this is crazy!'”revealed the actor.

No wonder when you know that the duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg had already promised “twice as much puns and three times as much food sex” when the series project had announced in 2022.

The Sausage Party: Foodtopia series is expected in 2024 on Prime Video.
