India fired a missile at Pakistan and pleads the accident

The Indian army “accidentally” fired a missile at Pakistan, the Indian Ministry of Defense announced on Friday March 11, reigniting tensions between the two countries.

The Indian military authorities also described, in a press release, that this act was “deeply regrettable”.

They added that this accident was part of “routine maintenance”, during which “a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile”.

On the Pakistani side, according to the Pakistan Today website, General Babar Iftikhar said: “The object suddenly maneuvered towards Pakistani territory and violated our airspace, finally falling near Mian Channu”.

No casualties to report

“When it fell, it damaged civilian properties,” added Babar Iftikhar. The general also specified that “the flight path of this object has endangered many international and domestic passenger flights”. So far, no casualties have been reported.

An investigation has been launched to understand more exactly what happened.
