India Hicks married her long-term partner David Flint Wood a few months ago. Now Prince Charles’ goddaughter shares previously unseen photos of her wedding – and reveals sweet details.
India Hicks, 54, and advertising executive David Flint Wood, 60, have known each other since childhood. When they met again in adulthood, it sparked and they moved to the Bahamas for a few years in 1996. The two have five children together: Felix, 24, Amory, 22, Conrad, 17, Domino, 13, and Wesley, whom they adopted on the Caribbean island after his mother died of cancer.
India and David made their engagement public in November 2020. After more than 25 years of relationship, they finally tied the knot on September 10, 2021 at Brightwell Baldwin Parish Church in Oxfordshire. Now the goddaughter of Prince Charles, 73, shares recordings that show her in her wedding dress and rarely gives private insights into her wedding.
India Hicks: Private Insight into Her Wedding
On July 29, 1981, India Hicks acted as bridesmaid for Princess Diana, † 36, and Prince Charles’ wedding. 40 years later, she steps in front of the altar herself. She wore an A-line shaped dress made of coarse lace with long sleeves and a high collar by her favorite designer Emilia Wickstead. The 54-year-old now posts a picture on her Instagram account that shows her trying on her wedding dress.
She gave a lot of thought to the choice of her wedding dress in advance, as she humorously explains: “What do you wear to a wedding when you are 54 years old? You have to think about it a little – especially if you are the bride yourself and stands before the altar for the first time. ” The question of a veil also caused her headache, since it was a “symbol of virginity”, “but between us, I had lost it a while ago”. Hicks decided to wear one anyway – but something went wrong.
The veil drama on the day of the wedding
The veil was supposed to be delivered to India’s mother, but it ended up with her friend Christian along with two flower girl dresses. However, this was only noticed when styling the hair on the morning of the wedding ceremony. “PANIC BROKEN”, writes India.

On November 25, 2021 – Thanksgiving – India already posted pictures of their wedding, showing them with daughter Domino and mother Lady Pamela Hicks, 92. The British woman could not really do anything with this holiday, but she still expresses her gratitude. “This year I am of course very grateful that I am married to David. 26 years and five children later, with family, friends and above all with my mother by our side,” she writes in the article.
She also reveals how much her kids were involved in her and David’s wedding: “Domino was the main bridesmaid, Wesley drove me to church, Felix took me to the altar, Amory gave a speech and Conrad read a poem […] before. “How beautiful!
India Hicks is the third child of Lady Pamela Hicks (née Mountbatten) and David Nightingale Hicks, † 69. Lady Pamela Mountbatten is a cousin of Prince Philip, † 99, she was a bridesmaid at his wedding.
