Tunisia, Lebanon, Egypt… While the invasion of Ukraine never ends and Russia bends under Western sanctions, the shortage of wheat threatens Africa and the Middle East, deprived of Russian and Ukrainian wheat . It is therefore not surprising that the Indian government has been approached for several days by countries seeking alternatives.

“India is about to reach an agreement to export wheat to Egypt. Talks are underway with Turkey, China, Bosnia, Sudan, Nigeria, Iran…”, the Commerce Department said in a March 19 statement. Tunisia, Lebanon, Israel, Morocco and South Africa would also be applicants.
