Harrison Ford on the Croisette: “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” is set to debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. This was reported by the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporters”. The renowned festival runs from May 16th to 27th this year. According to the “Hollywood Reporter”, those responsible want to present the fifth part of the action series on the second or third day of the festival.

The regular theatrical release of “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” with Harrison Ford (80) is scheduled for June 29, 2023. This means that the first votes for the long-awaited film could reach the fans more than a month earlier than planned.

Cannes debut brought Indiana Jones no luck 15 years ago

Indiana Jones is no stranger to Cannes. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull made its debut on the Croisette in 2008. At the premiere, just a few days before the regular theatrical release, the critics present erupted in applause. The numbers at the box office were also correct at the beginning. But the fourth part is mostly hated by fans of the Indy series.

For a few years now, it has been customary for potential blockbusters to celebrate their world premieres in Cannes – not in competition, of course. Last year “Top Gun: Maverick” ran on the Côte d’Azur, in 2018 “Solo: A Star Wars Story” had this honor.

New German title for “Indiana Jones 5”

“Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny” is Harrison Ford’s fifth and final appearance as an action archaeologist. No details are known about the story yet. All that is known so far is that the film takes place in 1969 and that it is about the moon landing, among other things. And about ex-Nazis who are said to be involved in the Apollo project.

The German title was changed in mid-March. Instead of “Indiana Jones and the Call of Destiny” it’s now called “Wheel of Destiny”. Originally titled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
