Indiana Jones 5: who is Ethann Isidore, this young Frenchman partner of Harrison Ford?


On the occasion of the release of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”, a small focus on Ethann Isidore, this young French actor who takes part in the adventure with Harrison Ford.

Fifteen years later The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is released in theaters Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the long-awaited fifth installment of the franchise initiated by Steven Spielberg in 1981. If the blockbuster includes big names in its cast, it also allows to a young French actor promising to make himself known to the general public: Ethann Isidore.

Born in 2007 in Chatou, in the Yvelines, Ethann Isidore practiced climbing, piano, skateboarding and singing very early on. But it is above all the comedy that fascinates him. He thus took acting and improvisation lessons from the age of six and joined a “Second Cinema” at the Pothiers high school in Orléans. Then, he joined the Conservatory of this same city.

Ethann also plays in several short films such as Ils, Debout, Les Passagers and Au Revoir Tom Selleck. He also landed two small roles in two series: Sam, where he played Clément, and Mortel, in which he slipped into the skin of Sofiane (Carl Malapa) as a child.

In 2021, Ethann Isidore is chosen to join the cast of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny led by the tireless Harrison Ford. More specifically, he plays Teddy Kumar, a young man from the streets of Tangier who finds himself embarked with Indy and his goddaughter Elena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) on an adventure to find the famous Dial.

The 16-year-old actor confides about his character: “He knows how to act and how to behave in every situation. He thinks he’s an adult and he’s the best guy in the world, which is true. At first he doesn’t like Indiana because he sees him as a rival as Helena’s best friend, but I think Teddy has a crush on her.”

A hero “resourceful and pretty cool”somewhat reminiscent of Half-Moon that Jonathan Ke Quan camped in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984).

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, whose budget is estimated at 300 million dollars, was released in France on June 28, a few weeks after being presented Out of Competition at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

On a completely different note, Ethann Isidore also landed a small role in Daryl Dixon, a spin-off series to The Walking Dead centering on the fan-favorite character played by Norman Reedus.
