Indoor soccer – state championship is again corona victim

The announcement of the general, at least three-week lockdown last Friday was also the death knell for the national indoor soccer championship. The tournaments that had already been drawn for the fighting teams and the youngsters were canceled on Monday. As in the previous year, Corona thwarted the plans.

Last Friday, the organizers of the traditional “bull” indoor tournament pulled the rip cord, canceled the 40th anniversary edition planned for the beginning of January. And on Monday the Salzburg Football Association also whistled off its indoor state championships before the planned starting shot: as in the previous year All competitions (fighting teams and youngsters) canceled. All competitions had already been drawn. In an official statement from the SFV it says: “After the registration of the clubs and the subsequent draw, you were actually ready to go, but unfortunately you were presented with a fait accompli due to the current developments. The 5th COVID-19 Emergency Measures Ordinance, valid as of November 22, 2021, makes it impossible for youngsters and amateurs to enter sports facilities for at least three weeks. Even after that, no competition stability can realistically be guaranteed. For this reason, the Salzburg Football Association is forced to cancel the SFV indoor competitions in 2021/2022. ”As in the previous year, Corona thwarted all plans – things can only get better in the 2022/23 season.
