Are the rumors surrounding the return of inFamous and Sly Cooper true? For the first time Sucker Punch speaks and is very clear on the subject.
Would Sucker Punch be working on new PS5 games inFamous and Sly Cooper? A serious source had claimed that the franchises would make a smashing return at the next PlayStation Showcase. Today developers leave no room for doubt.
No inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper in development
A new Sly Cooper and an inFamous on PS5 would be announced at Sony’s next big conference. This was affirmed by a source reputed to be serious, who had in particular leaked Star Wars Eclipse. And yet, it would seem that theinsider gave players false hope. In a blog post published this Friday 1er July 2022, Sucker Punch shut down the rumors.
Our games are growing in scope and complexity and they require the full attention of the studio. Since we are fully focused on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper at this time. No other studio is working on projects related to these franchises either. These characters are really special and they are particularly dear to us, so even if we will never close the door to these licenses, at the moment there are no inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development.
Sucker Punch does indeed seem busy with what appears to be Ghost of Tsushima 2. The potential sequel to the studio’s hit new franchise is often talked about again through job postings. Unfortunately, these statements will make some disappointed people who were hoping for a return to PS5 from inFAMOUS. Never say never as the developers say, but it wouldn’t be for many years to come.
