Guest of the Grand Rendez-vous Europe 1/Cnews/Les Echos, the President of the Senate Gérard Larcher, returned to the inflation situation in France. For the latter, we must support the purchasing power of citizens, “but we must target the most modest”, because “we cannot continue the check policy forever”.
The months follow one another and look alike on the supermarket shelves. Inflation continues to rise in France and Europe 1 and facing it, consumers watching prices soar. “In our meetings on the ground with citizens, inflation is a subject that is at the rendezvous”, assures Gérard Larcher at the microphone of Europe 1 / Cnews /The echoes.
“Think it will all be painless, that’s lying”
Faced with the situation, the new Borne government must quickly present an amending finance bill, which should make it possible to best respond to increases in the prices of food, housing and even energy. “There is an urgent need to support purchasing power”, assures the President of the Senate. “But we must target this aid for the most modest”, he explains before adding: “The situation shows that we cannot continue with the check policy forever”.
Nevertheless, “there is no proposal for recipes or savings”, points the finger at Gérard Larcher, who ensures that he is particularly attentive to this question. Because the inflation linked to the war in Ukraine “will have consequences on our lives”, he assures. “And think it will all be painless, that’s lying.”
“Tracing the Future”
“We, who aspire to have the confidence of the French, must tell them the truth,” said the President of the Senate. Because Gérard Larcher wants Les Républicains to win back the French in the coming months. “We have the merit of clarity,” said Senator LR. A sentence which targets in particular the Socialist Party, accused of denying some of its commitments by allying with insubordinate France, in particular on the question of Europe.
“We will have the need for a debate after the legislative elections”, estimates Gérard Larcher to rebuild the party. “We will have choices to make in the LR family to chart the future, to talk to the French again.” But who will lead the party after this debate? “We will see” explains Gérard Larcher, who does not exclude Laurent Wauquiez from the list: “He has qualities but we will see”.
