After the placement under police protection of journalist Ruth Elkrief, targeted on X by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, several representatives of LFI denounce a form of “double standards”. This is the case of Mathilde Panot, who in a tweet claims to have to organize her “own security” herself, “without any assistance from the State”.
Dozens of us are under death threats from the far right. 9 years in prison for attempted assassination against Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
We organize our own security.
Without any state assistance.
And Darmanin grants protection to a journalist… https://t.co/Va2BfVe9Wz

“We have never had on our side, that is to say for President Mathilde Panot or for the parliamentary group, the slightest evaluation,” assures those around Mathilde Panot. What are the protection needs today? “We’re not asking for anything,” acknowledges this source, who continues: “But we can clearly see that with the protection of this journalist there is a rapid reaction that seems disproportionate.”
Thomas Portes also took to the social network with a tweet accusing the Minister of the Interior of having “never lifted a finger” to protect LFI elected officials.
Many of us are threatened with death, receiving hundreds of calls and death threats on our personal numbers every day. Attacks were planned against @JLMelenchon. The Minister of the Interior has never lifted a finger. Tartuffe.

Radio silence from Mélenchon
However, according to information collected by Europe 1, Place Beauvau tried to contact Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s entourage at the end of September to discuss his security and take stock to assess requests and needs. Messages were sent to several levels within the LFI structure. Even trying to contact Jean-Luc Mélenchon in person, who never responded.
On September 29, Lise Maillard, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s chief of staff, received an SMS sent by the chief of staff of Gérald Darmanin, Alexandre Brugère: “Hello Madam Director. Would you have a minute to call me back? Thank you very much”. No answer. The request went unheeded. Contacted this Monday afternoon, Lise Maillard also did not respond to requests from Europe 1.
“The minister has always carried out the necessary evaluations when elected officials of the Nation received threats. This was also the case for Mr. Mélenchon who never deigned to respond to the office of the Minister of the Interior,” indicates -one in Gérald Darmanin’s entourage.
