Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin canceled his activist weekend in the North with his Renaissance party in order to stay in Paris amid Sunday’s protest against “high cost of living” and “government inaction”. A mobilization is indeed planned at 2 p.m. from the Place de la Nation, on the initiative of the Nupes.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, who was to go to the North as part of an activist weekend with Renaissance, canceled his trip. Faced with the demonstration planned for Sunday in the capital against “government inaction”, “high cost of living and climate inaction”, the latter has indeed decided to stay in Paris.

A “great march against the high cost of living and climate inaction”

A mobilization at the initiative of Nupes (EELV, LFI, PCF and PS) is scheduled for 2 p.m. from Place de la Nation to Place de la Bastille. Several environmental defense associations have also joined the movement. This initiative is a continuation of the demonstrations of 22 and 29 September.

The unions said in September that they would not be part of the call, contrary to what Jean-Luc Mélenchon wanted, who called for the constitution of a new “Popular Front”. The PCF, however hoped for by the rest of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) but which wishes to give priority to the unions, does not appear in this call.
