During the 50th rose festival, the first secretary of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure, returned to the commitment of the left-wing party in the fight against violence against women. At the microphone of Europe 1, the PS deputy calls on the LFI deputy Adrien Quatennens “to step back”, following the publication of a handbook against him for domestic violence.

Busy Saturday for the French political world. Change of official name to La République en Marche and summit meeting in Agde for the National Rally. The left is not to be outdone, while the Socialist Party (PS) celebrated the 50th rose festival. For the occasion, the First Secretary of the party Oliver Faure, notably underlined the involvement of the PS in the fight against violence against women.

“The left must be exemplary. It must be able to constantly agree with what it says”, explained to the microphone of Europe 1 the First Secretary of the PS. And to add: “I have for four years made sure that each time there were accusations, suspicions that weighed on such and such a person, I asked him to withdraw temporarily, the investigation time.

An embarrassing request

An extremely important point for the PS deputy, who underlines the contradictory attitude of La France insoumise, while the LFI deputy Adrien Quatennens is targeted by a handrail from his companion. “I hope that for LFI, even if I am not the leader, that as soon as there is a suspicion, we must start by letting justice investigate. And therefore, during this period, Adrien Quatennens should, from my point of view, to step back from his duties at La France insoumise”, insists Olivier Faure.

It must be said that La France Insoumise has experienced many scandals since the presidential election of 2022. After the accusations Taha Bouafs for sexual violence in May 2022, then Eric Coquerel last July for sexual harassment, it is the turn of Adrien Quatennens to be charged with domestic violence. Within rebellious France, the affair is embarrassing.

And if many of his colleagues in the National Assembly do not dare to speak on the subject, Olivier Faure him, does not hesitate to relaunch this controversy which does not end for the party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
