Emmanuel Macron intends to return to the field to turn the page on pension reform. Sources close to the executive confirm to Europe 1 that a trip dedicated to rurality is confirmed this Thursday in the department of Hérault. While Emmanuel Macron will spend part of May on visits abroad, other trips to France in the coming days are under consideration. The precise program of these sequences is not yet determined. It is a question of confronting the reality of daily life, explains a close friend of the head of state, well aware of the opposition he should encounter during his visits. “He doesn’t want to hide, his DNA is to make contact,” he explains.

In the meantime, Emmanuel Macron is due to deliver a speech this Monday at 8 p.m. sharp, during which he intends to close the chapter devoted to pensions, chart the course for the months to come and breathe new life into a very tumultuous second five-year term. A speech that comes two days later the express promulgation of the controversial reform, overnight from Friday to Saturday. Or just a few hours after the verdict of the Constitutional Council deeming the text to be in conformity, with the exception of a few provisions.
