INFO EUROPE 1 – How will the next congress of the National Rally take place?

Victor Chabert

Return to the Maison de la Mutualité for the National Rally (RN). According to information from Europe 1, it is in this Parisian room that the 18th congress of the RN will take place on Saturday November 5, which must appoint the successor to Marine Le Pen at the head of the party. The speech of the new president, Jordan Bardella or Louis Aliot, will take place the same evening.

A symbolic place for the flame party. In 2019 it was from the Maison de la Mutualité in the 5th arrondissement of Paris that Marine Le Pen presented the list of the National Rally (RN) for the European elections. At its head, Jordan Bardella, 23 years old at the time, whom the general public discovered for the first time. On November 5, it is in this same room that Jordan Bardella, now 27, will perhaps be elected president of the flame party in the race which opposes him to the mayor of Perpignan, Louis Aliot.

On Saturday 5 November in the morning, after the statutory moral reports from outgoing President Marine Le Pen and Treasurer Kevin Pfeffer, the results of the votes will be known. It will be the election of the new National Council, the party parliament, and of the new president.

The afternoon will be devoted to round tables on the future of the RN and in particular its policy of local establishment with a view to municipal elections. At the end of the afternoon, the new president will speak. The next day, still at Mutualité, the new bodies will meet for the first time.

The stakes are high for the RN

The party wants to believe that this congress will make it possible to display the symbol of democratic maturity, of a formation that has become a government party. If the two candidates, Jordan Bardella and Louis Aliot, do not differ on the line, they each claim “Marinism”. It will therefore be personality and style that will influence the choice of members.

The deadline for joining the party in order to vote is September 26. Electronic voting will open on September 30 until November 3.
