According to information from Europe 1, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin will travel to Mayotte on Saturday evening, while the archipelago has been the scene of violent clashes for several days. He will be accompanied by Marie Guévenoux, Minister Delegate for Overseas Territories, and several directors general of the ministry.
The Mayotte archipelago has been in the grip of a major blockage for several days, as demonstrations multiply “against insecurity and immigration”. It is in this context of insurrectional climate that the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin must go there this Saturday evening. He will be accompanied by Marie Guévenoux, the new Minister for Overseas Affairs, and several directors general of the ministry, such as the gendarmerie, the police and even foreigners in France, according to information from Europe 1.
“Security crisis”, “water crisis” and “migrant crisis”
In Mayotte, Gérald Darmanin and Marie Guévenoux will meet the State services present on site, specifies Place Beauvau. “They also intend to renew dialogue with the elected officials of the archipelago and citizens, but also with economic actors whose activity is made difficult by the roadblocks which have been blocking traffic for several weeks,” explains the ministry.
“Security crisis”, “water crisis” and “migrant crisis” will be the central themes of this trip. “The government will continue to be fully mobilized to respond to the crises facing Mayotte, and which the people of Mahor suffer on a daily basis, as has been the case for many months already,” supports the Interior.
