Before definitively confirming the choice to appoint Gabriel Attal as Prime Minister, the Élysée asked on January 2 for a note from the young Minister of National Education on “his first 100 days” at Matignon. Work, penal policy, administration… According to information from Europe 1, Gabriel Attal defined three priorities, thus succeeding in convincing the president.

If Emmanuel Macron had the “Attal” option in mind for more than a month, the President still wanted to be sure of the course that the Minister of Education would take in the event of appointment to Matignon. Before definitively confirming the choice to appoint Gabriel Attal, the Élysée asked on January 2 for a note from the young Minister of National Education on “his first 100 days” at Matignon, in the event that he would succeed Élisabeth Thick headed.

According to information from Europe 1, Gabriel Attal defined three priorities in this document: work, penal policy for minors and administrative simplification.

Work as a cardinal value

Like Emmanuel Macron during the 2022 presidential campaign, Gabriel Attal made work, according to this note, a cardinal value of his project. Beyond the fight against unemployment, he sees it as the key to improving the purchasing power of the French.

Second priority of the now former Minister of National Education: penal policy for minors. Faced with the sharp rise in delinquency figures, Gabriel Attal wants firm and appropriate responses. “He is aware of the over-representation of foreign minors,” assures one of his relatives.

“Middle-class France” and “doubting France”

Finally, third and last priority: administrative simplification. Gabriel Attal wants to follow in the footsteps of Georges Pompidou, the one who declared that we had to “Stop annoying the French”.

For Gabriel Attal, the government’s decisions must be guided by “two markers”: “middle-class France” and “doubting France”. So many positions which finally convinced Emmanuel Macron last week.
